Every year, Birtley Community Church spends a weekend away, enjoying fellowship together. These weekends usually start on Friday evening and finish at lunchtime on Sunday. Two nights of accommodation and all meals are included in the price. Children will be charged much less than this (please contact us for details) and are catered for by activities that run through the weekend. We arrange a special programme including teaching by a visiting speaker. In 2018 we even had a demonstration of birds of prey on the Saturday afternoon, although we usually arrange a choice of activities involving varying degrees of energy. We always organise a special programme for children, and in 2019, the Saturday of the retreat was combined with a Ranger day and we had about 25 children with us for an exciting day of activities, in which the children cooked food over campfires which they afterwards shared this with their parents.
In 2020, the event will be held at Minsteracres as shown in the photograph where there are are beautiful and extensive grounds to explore.
